Electric scooters and micro-mobility

For thousands of years, the streets were home to vendors and horses at first, to carriages and bicycles later. The design of the electric scooter itself has been around for years, but it was often marketed as a toy.

Battery-powered scooters at first, they’re now available with GPS trackers and wireless connectivity. Electric scooter services have stormed from city to city in the recent few years. Adoption rates during their short time on the market have been impressive. All due to the relatively low cost and potential return on investments that make them all the more attractive.

Micro – mobility

Micro-mobility refers to personal vehicles that can carry one or two passengers. Electric scooters are probably the most common example.
Cosmopolitan cities worldwide are facing an epidemic of congestion and pollution caused by rapid urbanization. This in turn brings about a severe pressure on public transportation systems.

Micro-mobility solutions can help fill in the gaps between public transportation for millions of commuters. In fact, they can even help make mass transit more attractive. More people shall choose it over driving their cars. In turn, this can reduce traffic congestion, parking issues, and other urban problems.

Electric scooters have been praised across the world for the increased mobility they offer to those with health issues. For those with disabilities, e-scooters are preferred as they save the rider from the peddling. When walking isn’t an option and public transport can be difficult, more and more people are opting for the convenience of an e-scooter.

The future of e-scooters

Very few things in this world have ever made the jump from a child’s toy to an adult necessity. If nothing else, it’s a noble attempt to live through un-walkable cities and escape some of the stress and congestion of urban living.
